Neuspeed open House & Rally
February 26, 2000
Camarillo, CA USA

Last November, I took a trip up to Camarillo to go visit with NEUSPEED's president, Greg Woo, and to tour their facility. I was impressed, so impressed that I shared it with everyone on the Club B5 discussion forums. Many people shared an interest in touring the facility, so I met again with Greg again and we came up with a plan to have a tour/tech day for all of us Southern Californian B5ers & guests, including all of those die hard out-of-towner enthusiasts that came from Arizona, San Diego, San Francisco/Bay Area, and Colorado, and the Conejo Valley Audi Group, that brought a few Audi S4's for us to check out. After a bit of planning, Greg brought it to my attention that VW Cola was planning a similar day and that we should join them. I thought it would be a great idea so we planned our first, of hopefully many, NEUSPEED hosted events.

Little groups from different areas, got in touch and planned to meet up early in the morning before the event in order to caravan together to the main event. The group from the San Fernando valley met at VW Woodland Hills, the group from Orange County met at Wings West in Newport Beach, and the 2 groups in San Diego met up at the In 'N' Out burger in Mission Valley and at the McDonalds parking lot near the Del Mar race track.

The day's events were as follows:

10:00-10:30am:

Meet at NEUSPEED headquarters in Camarillo.

10:30am: Road Rally begins. First car released onto course. For guests not participating in rally, NEUSPEED showroom opened, factory tours available, and tech desk opened for questions.
12:30pm: Road Rally ended. Last car rreturned from course. Lunch.
1:30pm: Rally results announced.
1:45pm: Raffle of items from NEUSPEED, Bilstein, MOMO, Koni & Ronal.
2:00pm:  Event ended.
Overall, the event was a success...and VERY fun. The whole week prior to the Saturday of the event it was raining here in the Southland. Many talks of canceling the event took place, but even if it was canceled  NEUSPEED still would have kept the facility open for us and give tours to those people that were interested. We lucked out and got no rain what-so-ever, in fact, it was rather hot out. Then, as soon as I woke up Sunday morning, I heard rain. Talk about luck! The one day it doesn't rain in a period of 5 days is the day we chose to have the event!

It was great to meet a lot of the new faces that have recently appeared in the forums, and also to see those old faces again from the August 14, 1999 B5 meet that we had in San Juan Capistrano. A lot of people were missed, and you know who you are!

Enjoy the pictures.
