Vinyl surfaces clean.

No scratches on wood or plastic trim (especially where dealer-installed accessories such as in-dash CD player may have been installed).

Interior vanity & map lights

In-trunk (or rear hatch area if Variant)

Window and door lock switches lit?

All buttons work?

Does car alarm work?
How do you stop it?

All windows go up & down fully.

All window controls work.

Do door lock controls work?

Moonroof opens and closes fully in slide and tilt modes.

Sunshade in back rolls up/down ok. (Or cargo cover slides properly if Variant).

Moonroof's sunshade slides forward/back ok.

Do door-key window-control functions work? (all windows down/up with key in door?)

Owners manual is present.

Floor mats are present and correct color or pattern? Snaps are all present and an acceptable color?

Rear seats fold and latch properly. Rear seatbelts all work.

Front seats adjust fully up/down, forward/backward, recline.

Seats are tight and rattle-free with no rocking.

Seat belts work properly.

Seat heaters work.

Check engine compartment for any obvious defects / damage / leaks.

Check tire pressure. What brand are tires? (Tire pressure is important! Passats are shipped w/45 lbs. per tire -- WAY over proper inflation pressure).

Odometer reading doesn't show excessive mileage.

Inside mirror turns far enough toward driver so you can see your silly grin as you drive off happily with your wonderful car.
