But I pulled the existing low-beam bulbs from the car. They said "OSRAM", so I copied all the info I could find, hit the web, looked up OSRAM and started dialing phone #s listed there. (OSRAM is Sylvania for those more familiar with that name). I finally got connected to a very nice woman who pulled some spec sheets for me.

In short I see almost no point in replacing the stock bulbs with **same-wattage** bulbs. (unless you want blue bulbs) Folks VW did us right on the stock bulbs.

Now while apparently OSRAM does not spec color temp, they do spec lumens. Their H7 55W bulb used in our low-beams was rated at ~1500 lumens... that's 10% better than the Astra Ultrawhites (which are rather blue-ish actually in my one day experience before sending them back). The H4 high/fog was rated 1650/1000 just like the top Philips AW bulbs listed at AutoOptiks.
