Chris Daraban (Jinxx)
Hawaii

It all started in September of 2000.  My wife and I were selling our 2-door Integra GSR (red of course) and looking for a 4-door-family-mobile due to the arrival of our newly born daughter.  The main things we were looking for were decent power, leg and head (and car seat) room, leather interior and a manual transmission.  We looked at the IS300 (too small and only available with auto-stick), the GS400 (too expensive), the S70-T5 (only available in auto unless we waited 4 months), the A4 (too small) and the Stratus (yuck, yuck, barf).  We looked at the Passat GLX a couple of times and we liked everything about it except that it took a while for the look of the car to grow on me (am I weird?).  We narrowed it down to the VW and the Volvo.  Then, my wife dropped a bomb on me…since she was going to be driving it 90% of the time and would have to deal with a screaming child, etc….she wanted an AUTOMATIC (oh the horror)!  Since the Passat was available with a Tiptronic transmission, 4Motion and a lower price tag than the Volvo, it got the nod.  Because I had to live with an automatic, my wife agreed to let me set aside some money to fix up the car a bit (muahahahaha ßevil laugh).  The modifications started simply enough with wheels and tires…and then I discovered Club B5.  And through ClubB5, I met Lawrence, aka IslandT, who was part of a European car club (Eurotechnik) here in Hawaii.  With all the inspiration and comraderie from Club B5 and Eurotechnik, I don’t think I’ll ever be done modifying our Passat!  My goal is an aggressive, stylish, but subtle look  (oxymoron?)

So here’s what I’ve done so far:
