Club B5 Fantasy Football League: "Club B5ers"
2003 Season
This year, Club B5 put together a Club B5 Fantasy Football League. For those of you that don't know what Fantasy Football is, here is an introduction from the Sandbox.com website (the site we used to host our league).

INTRODUCTION.
Sandbox.com hosts, operates and maintains an interactive fantasy football game on the Internet that captures the excitement of professional football, called "Full Contact." Much more than simply a game, Full Contact is a virtual football community where throughout the professional football season participants are able to create or adopt at least ONE (1) fantasy football team, and join at least ONE (1) of several types of fantasy football leagues.

Just a note...we did NOT like Sandbox.com and we DO NOT recommend anyone to use it for Fantasy Sports purposes.

Simply put...

1) Players must get together and create a league. We chose to have a 10 person league, meaning that 10 Club B5 members joined this league and drafted a teams made up of REAL NFL players.

2) Once everybody drafts a team made up of Quarterbacks (QB), Running backs (RB), Wide Receivers (WR), Tight Ends (TE), Kickers (K) and defensive Players (D), the fantasy football host (Sandbox.com) creates a schedule where everybody plays one another throughout the regular NFL football season. An NFL player cannot be on more than 1 fantasy team. Every week each fantasy team has a different opponent (fantasy team) and you must choose what players you want to play that week to earn points for you, and which players you want to keep on the bench. For example, we had a 10 team league, so there would be 5 match ups each week...each team playing 1 other team.  Each fantasy team's goal is to outscore their opponent by picking the NFL players that they feel will give them the best chance of winning, based on that players  actual NFL team's opponent, home field advantage...etc.

Every team must play:
1 QB, 1 RB. 1 WR, 1 TE, 3 Offensive Flex (choice of RB, WR or TE), 1 K and 3 defensive players.

3) A team earns points based on what their actual NFL players do statistically in their game that week. Points are earned by the following:

Touchdown (TD) 6
2 Point Conversion (rush, receive or pass) 2
Every 15 yards (Rushing/Receiving) 1
Every 30 yards Passing 1
Fumble (only if lost) -3
Interception (thrown) -3
Field Goal 3
PAT (kicking) 1
25 Return Yds. (Kickoff Ret./Punt Ret./INT Ret.) 1
Solo Tackle 1
Sack 3
Interception (caught) 4
Fumble Recovery (Defensive) 4
Safety 5

For example, if Tiki Barber, a Running Back on the NY Giants rushes for 79 yards , receives for 31 yards, gets 1 touchdown and has 1 fumble, he earns 6 points for the touchdown, 5 points for the rushing yardage, 2 points for the receiving yardage and -3 for the fumble...giving him 10 points for that week. Now, at the end of the football week, a fantasy team's points are added up and if you outscore your opponent, you win that week and your opponent takes a loss.

Here is something to note for fantasy football:
Just because you score the most points throughout the football season does not necessarily mean you're going to win the season. Take for example The New york Passat Driving Giants and The Wild Hares, the top 2 fantasy teams in points scored, finishing 2nd and 3rd. They were beaten by the Millbrae Mutalators that scored 1365 points. It all depends on your weekly match ups. You can score only 40 points in one week (which is extremely low), but if you beat your opponent who only scored 35 points, you still get a win.

The 10 teams in our league included the following, and are listed in order of final placement along with other information based on their fantasy season:
